Privacy statement

Who we are

Belvanger is a service for trade businesses, currently in a pilot phase. Belvanger is an initiative of Wesley Visser and is not (yet) registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK). You can reach us via WhatsApp or by email at info@belvanger.nl.

What data we process

• Request for a call: if you fill in the form, we process your name, email address, phone number and trade, and if you fill them in also your business name and the question or situation you describe. The form sends this to our own server, which forwards it by email to info@belvanger.nl (mailbox hosted at Hostinger). If you provide an email address, you get an automatic confirmation there. Beyond that, all we keep on the server is a count (your trade and the page language, without your name or contact details), so we know how many requests come in.
• AI chat assistant: what you type in the chat window goes to OpenRouter, which passes it to an AI model (Google Gemini) to produce an answer. This may involve processing outside the European Economic Area. We don't keep the text of your chat messages; we only track how many conversations there were. So please don't put sensitive information in it. You're talking to an automated assistant, not a member of staff; the chat window says so too.
• WhatsApp: only if you click a WhatsApp link yourself. WhatsApp/Meta then processes your message (see WhatsApp's privacy policy), possibly outside the European Economic Area. The contact form does not go via WhatsApp.
• Technical logs: our server keeps standard access logs briefly (including IP address) for security and to limit abuse of the form and the chat. We don't keep these longer than necessary.

We don't use advertising networks and don't sell data.

Cookies

Your cookie choice itself is stored in your own browser (localStorage), which is strictly necessary to remember what you chose. If you accept via the cookie banner, we additionally load Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use the site, so we can improve it; that service sets its own cookies. Without your consent, Clarity is not loaded. Change your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of the site.

Why, and on what basis

We only use the details from the form to contact you about the call you requested. The basis is your request/consent: you contact us yourself. Chat messages are used only to answer your question at that moment. For Clarity the basis is your consent via the cookie banner. We don't use your data for anything else.

Sharing with others

We don't sell your data and don't share it for commercial purposes. The only parties we use are: Hostinger (hosting for the site and the mailbox), OpenRouter with the underlying AI model for the answers in the chat, Microsoft Clarity but only after your consent, and WhatsApp (Meta) if you use that link yourself.

How long we keep it

We keep your data as long as needed to help you with your request, or until you ask us to delete it.

Your rights

You may ask us what data we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Send us a message via WhatsApp or info@belvanger.nl. Disagree about something? You can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Security

The site runs over a secure connection (HTTPS) and we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

Changes

Belvanger is under development. Once the service becomes official, we'll update this statement with our full company details.
